Art Teacher - Elementary School

Schoharie Central School District has an anticipated probationary opening for a full-time Elementary Art Teacher beginning September 1, 2026.

The successful candidate will provide engaging, standards-based visual arts instruction that inspires students to develop artistic skills, creative thinking, and an appreciation for diverse cultures and artistic traditions. The selected candidate will create a safe, welcoming, and inclusive classroom where every child feels valued and encouraged to explore, create, and grow.

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • Strong relationship-building skills with students, families, colleagues, and the community.
  • Knowledge of current instructional best practices in elementary visual arts education.
  • A commitment to creating meaningful, hands-on learning experiences that inspire creativity and artistic expression.
  • The ability to differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of all learners.
  • A collaborative mindset and willingness to work as an active member of a professional learning community.
  • A commitment to culturally responsive practices, equity, inclusion, and ensuring every student has opportunities to succeed.
  • Strong organizational and classroom management skills that promote a positive, respectful learning environment.
  • A desire to celebrate student learning through school and community art displays, exhibitions, and interdisciplinary learning opportunities.

Salary according to the Schoharie Teachers Association Collective Bargaining Agreement.
