Schoharie Central School District has an anticipated probationary opening for a full-time Elementary School Special Education Teacher beginning on September 1, 2026.

At Schoharie CSD, we believe every child deserves access to engaging learning experiences that foster curiosity, confidence, and a love of learning. Guided by our Blueprint for Excellence, we are committed to creating an instructional environment where students are inspired to grow, supported by high expectations, and empowered to pursue their own personalized path to success.

We are seeking educators who are committed to continuous growth, believe in the potential of every student, and want to contribute to a collaborative school community where kindness, integrity, respect, commitment, compassion, professionalism, and teamwork guide our work each day.

The successful candidate will provide engaging, standards-based instruction and individualized supports that promote the academic, social, emotional, and developmental growth of students with disabilities. Working collaboratively with general education teachers, related service providers, families, and support staff, the selected candidate will create an inclusive learning environment where every student is valued, challenged, and supported in achieving meaningful growth toward individualized goals while developing the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed for future success.

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • Knowledge of current instructional best practices, New York State Learning Standards, and evidence-based special education practices.
  • A commitment to creating meaningful learning experiences that foster student growth, independence, confidence, and engagement.
  • The ability to design and implement individualized instruction that addresses each student's strengths, needs, and learning goals while promoting access to grade-level curriculum.
  • Knowledge of the special education process, including IEP development and implementation, progress monitoring, documentation, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
  • The ability to differentiate instruction and implement accommodations, modifications, and specially designed instruction to meet the diverse needs of learners.
  • Experience collaborating within inclusive classrooms through co-teaching, consultation, and partnership with general education teachers and related service providers.
  • A collaborative mindset and willingness to work as an active member of a professional learning community while contributing to continuous instructional improvement.
  • A commitment to culturally responsive practices, equity, inclusion, and ensuring every student has meaningful opportunities to succeed.
  • Strong organizational and classroom management skills that promote a positive, respectful, safe, and supportive learning environment.
  • The ability to use assessment data and progress monitoring to inform instruction, evaluate student growth, and adjust interventions as needed.
  • Effective communication skills and a commitment to developing strong partnerships with families as active participants in their child's educational experience.
  • The thoughtful integration of instructional and assistive technology to enhance student learning, communication, independence, and accessibility.
  • A willingness to contribute to the broader school community through collaboration, school initiatives, and activities that support student success.
